At Mill Park Secondary College, creativity takes centre stage. Each year, our Performing Arts Centre comes alive with the energy and talent of our students through a vibrant calendar of events and programs. From our annual school production that transforms the stage into a professional theatre experience, to our annual art exhibition showcasing student folios and visual art across a wide range of mediums, the spotlight is firmly on student achievement and imagination.
Our students also shine in music, with the annual Kool Schools recording project providing the opportunity to write, perform, and professionally record their own music. The year wouldn’t be complete without our Song and Dance concert, a dynamic celebration of movement and performance that brings together our school community.
These major events, alongside our daily Arts and Visual Arts programs, reflect the dedication, skill, and passion of our students and staff. Together, they create a thriving culture of creativity and performance that is celebrated and shared with our community every year.
VCE Visual Arts & Top Designs
Our students at Mill Park Secondary College showcase their creativity and dedication through their folio pieces, with each artwork reflecting individual ideas, skills, and exploration developed throughout their Visual Arts studies. This collection highlights the imagination, effort, and passion our students bring to their artistic practice.
In recognition of this excellence, Irish Villegas was shortlisted for the 2022 Top Designs exhibition, an annual event at Melbourne Museum that celebrates outstanding VCE Visual Communication Design work. Irish’s folio featured book illustration and logo branding for a fictional publishing company called Harmony Week, demonstrating both creativity and technical skill in Visual Communication Design.
In 2020, Mill Park Secondary College launched its first Virtual Arts Festival, an online gallery that brought together Visual Arts, Design Technology, and Performing Arts. Despite the challenges of remote learning, students produced outstanding creative work, from classroom projects to pieces developed at home via Zoom and Google Classroom. The festival highlighted how art and design became both a coping mechanism and a pathway for tertiary portfolios, while also showcasing the resilience and talent of our students. This virtual exhibition remains a testament to the dedication of our staff and the creative growth achieved by our school community during a remarkable year.
Each year, Mill Park Secondary College transforms the Performing Arts Centre into a vibrant gallery space, celebrating the creativity and achievements of our students. The exhibition brings together artworks from across all year levels, showcasing a wide range of mediums, styles, and ideas. This annual event not only highlights the talent and hard work of our young artists but also invites families, friends, and the wider community to share in the pride of their creative journeys.
Every year, Mill Park Secondary College presents a major school production, bringing together the talents of our students in performance, music, dance, and stagecraft. In 2025, our community was thrilled by Bring It On, a high-energy production filled with humour, heart, and incredible choreography. The show was a true celebration of teamwork, creativity, and dedication, with students shining both on stage and behind the scenes to deliver an unforgettable experience for audiences.

At Mill Park Secondary College, the Kool skools program gives students the chance to experience the full journey of creating music — from the first lyric to the final mix. Each year, students compose and perform their own original songs, working with professional recording studios and industry-standard technology. The project not only results in high-quality recordings, CDs, and music videos, but also offers opportunities to showcase their work through award events and live performances. Past highlights include the Moments in Time CD (2019) and a series of annual showcases that celebrate the creativity and talent of our young musicians.
Song and Dance & Top Class Dance
Song and Dance is one of Mill Park Secondary College’s most anticipated events of the year, showcasing the musical and performing talents of our students. The concert brings together singers, dancers, and musicians across all year levels in a vibrant celebration of creativity and collaboration. From solo performances to large ensemble pieces, Song and Dance highlights the dedication, passion, and energy our students bring to the stage.
Our students’ talents are also recognised beyond the school community through the VCAA Season of Excellence. In 2023, Leila Pirova was selected to perform her Broadway Jazz solo at Top Class Dance as part of the 2022 Season of Excellence, having completed her Certificate II in Dance in 2022. In 2021, Martika Phemister was selected to perform her contemporary solo as part of the 2020 Season of Excellence, after completing her Certificate II in Dance in 2020.
