At MPSC, students can be involved in Music through a range of opportunities including classroom music and instrumental music. Classroom Music is offered as part of the core subjects at Year 8 and as an elective unit at Years 9 and 10. It is also offered at the VCE level- Years 11 & 12, where students can study VCE Music Performance and VET Music Industry- Sound Production.

In addition to these innovative and creative classroom opportunities, students from year 7-12 can also learn a musical instrument through the Instrumental Music Program. They can elect to learn an instrument of their choice to support their learning and develop skills knowledge and confidence in performance, building on character strengths, mindfulness and resilience.

  • Woodwind

There are also many extra-curricular opportunities which include bands and ensembles for: Voice, Guitar, Percussion, Brass & Woodwind Ensembles, Rhythm Bands, Rock Bands and many more. Ensembles and solo performers are able to participate in many performance opportunities including lunchtime and assembly performances, the annual College Song & Dance Concert, College Arts Festival, Campus Music Events, Community Events, Awards Nights, Orientation Programs.

Students are also encouraged to write and develop original music through the participation in the Kool Skools Song-writing & Recording Project. Mill Park Secondary College has been nominated and awarded many awards for their original compositions and song-writing and performance skills. In 2017 and 2015 the college won the KOOLEST SKOOL award and individual awards including Best Female Vocalist, Best Male Vocalist, Special Judges Awards for Best Guitarist, Best EDM, Best Ballad, Best Indie Rock.
